Timor Furak represented Timor-Leste for the first time in International Buyukcekmece Culture & Art Festival, Istanbul , Turkey 1st and 9th August 2014

Approximately 1800 guest attended the festival to be held for the 15^th time from Argentina, Albania, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Bulgaria, Algeria, East Timor, Finland, France, Gambia, Guam, South Korea, Georgia, India, Croatia, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, KKTC – Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Colombia, Kosovo, Costa Rica, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Chile, Ukraine, Yemen, Greece and also Turkey.

TIMOR FURAK GROUP: AUSTRALIA TOURS 2012 (SYDNEY AND DARWIN)

Timor Furak Group will be showcasing Timorese traditional dance and music for the first time in Sydney and Darwin as part of Timor Furak Australia Tours 2012 with the theme “culture is our pride, is our identity”. In Sydney (NSW) Timor Furak will be performing traditional dance and music at the occasion organized by Timor Chinese Association of NSW on the 2^nd of December, the event will take place at Timor Chinese Association of NWS Cnr of Greenfield Road and Mimosa Road, Greenfield Park NSW 2176. On the 4^th of December, Timor Furak will be making an appearance at the charity movie screening “BLOODSHOT” at Avalon Movie Theatre. This event is co-organized with Pitwatter friend of Soibada and Cinema Lorosa’e. Timor Furak Group is also expected to perform at the Saint Mary MacKillop Care (New South Wales) Albion Street Surry Hills on Friday the 7^th of December.

In additional, Timor Furak will have one special stop on its itinerary is Darwin where Timor Furak will perform at the occasion organized by Timor Portuguese Club in Darwin, Northern Territory on the 8^th of December 2012.

The cultural show will exhibit Timor Furak’s various dance and music with an aim to promote awareness of the rich and unique culture of Timor-Leste and fostering the mutual relationship between Timor-Leste and Australia.

Founded in 2006 by inspiring young artist across Timor-Leste the Timor Furak group aims 'to share the uniqueness of Timorese culture'. Timor Furak Group is an assembly of powerfully athletic dancers performing a repertory of traditional, and modern Timorese dancing. As an independently developed and Non-Profit organization, Timor Furak Group offers a unique opportunity to young Timorese to enhanced knowledge on Timorese culture, to promote personal growth in expressing their talents, appreciation of Timorese culture through dance, performance and music.
